Gluten Free In Anchorage, Alaska

This is another long overdue post, but I'm finally getting around to it.  Surprisingly, Anchorage was not the most difficult place to travel to while being gluten free. I was able to find a number of places that were understanding and receptive, I ended up using my travel cards a lot here and that worked very well.

Again, my memory isn't as great as it could be about all these spots, but here is what I've got...

737 W 5th Ave.
Anchorage, AK 99501

This was the fanciest spot we ate at while we were in Anchorage, but frankly, I found it the tastiest!  Our waiters were very understanding and knowledgeable and were easily able to point out many options on the menu. I ordered a salad and the king crab legs. Yum!

I made a couple of stops here so that I could cover my food needs for breakfast and lunch.  They had an amazing selection of gluten free products, many I had never seen before.

We went here a couple of times too since they were also very understanding and were able to alter some dishes to fit my dietary needs.  The food was also very fresh and tasty.

Okay, I'll be honest here, Humpy's was not my first choice. But I gave them my little travel card explaining my dietary needs and they were able to accommodate me with some plain fish, a salad, and a baked potato.

Anchorage, AK 99503

I didn't find this place until the day I was scheduled to leave for home, and I really wish I had discovered it earlier!  They had oodles of vegetarian and vegan options as well as delicious smoothies.

My apologies for the poor pictures above, but I had to share what the chef's at Mooses Tooth came up with for me.  I brought some Ivory Teff tortillas with me in the hopes of filling it with a tasty salad, but instead the chefs were able to make me a gluten and dairy free hawaiian pizza on them.  It was delicious and a great treat.

I used my travel cards here and they were able to accommodate me just fine.

This place reminds me of Chipotle, but not quite as fresh. Still, I was able to get a simple salad with some toppings.  I bought my own chips at the Natural Pantry, so I was able to crumble those over the top for a nice taco salad.
