Gluten Free In Seattle, WA: Summer Sushi & Local Foods

The beautiful summer days we've been starting to have in Seattle have sure enticed me out to more local restaurants, but that also mean's I've gotten very distracted from updating this blog!  Summer may continue to be a bit os sparse time for posts here, but I'll try to do better!

So in the mean time, here are a couple quick notes on some new gluten free friendly spots I've tried in Seattle.

Another part of my Seattle Summer Gluten Free Challenge to myself, I was a bit hesitant to try this place out since I've been avoiding soy.  However, the rest of my family loves sushi so I thought I would give it a try.  I mostly ate Seattle Rolls (cucumber, avocado, and salmon) and they were pretty wonderful.  The rice and fish were particularly tasty. They offer a pretty large gluten free menu of teriyaki type dishes, which I'm assuming are made with a tamari soy sauce and can adapt most of their rolls to be gluten free.  The downside is that they charge you extra to adapt a roll to be gluten free and if you love ikura (like I do), they marinate it in gluten-full soy sauce.

We recently found ourselves in the downtown neighborhood know as Belltown in need a spot to get a bit of food and ended up deciding on Local 360.  The tagline for this place is "We believe in real food." which usually screams gluten free friendly. We checked out the menu and asked the hostess who relayed that many of the dishes were gluten free or could be adapted to be gluten free.  I wasn't too hungry, so I just ended up a with a Peach, Bacon, and Goat Cheese salad, which was, um delicious.  I was pretty sure the menu version had a gluten-full dressing and our waiter made sure to check with the chef.  This spot seemed like one were the gluten free are well taken care of.  I will surely put it on my list as a spot to go back to if I find myself hungry in Belltown.
