Scenes from Alaska: Portage Lake
Perhaps it's because I grew up in California's Silicon Valley, but there's something about a snow and ice covered landscape that lights a fire in me. My mind and body feel sharp and my imagination runs wild. It's much of the reason why if there's a glacier within driving distance of my travels, I'll head straight there the first opportunity I get. Portage Glacier and Lake is one of my favorite spots to visit when I'm spending time in Anchorage for work. It's a beautiful drive along the Turnagain Arm to get there and once I'm there, I'll hang around as long as I can to soak in all the wonder.
