Artichokes with Garlic & Apple Cider Vinegar

This post isn't so much a recipe, as it is a how-I-make-my-artichokes-post.  So here it goes...

Ingredients
2 globe artichokes
4 tbsp garlic powder
1/3 cup apple cider vinegar

Make
Either with a really sharp knife or a serrated bread knife, cut the top 1 - 1 1/2 inches off the artichoke.
Snip the tops of the remaining leaves off with kitchen scissors.
Hold the artichokes under cold running water and make sure it reaches down in between the leaves. (The goal here is to flush out any dirt or other surprises that may have wriggled there way in there.) Make sure to drain them afterwards.
Cut the stem off the artichoke down to less than 1/2 inch, set aside.
Place a steamer in a large pot and fill with water just until it reaches the height of the steamer.
Place the artichokes on the steamer in the pot.
Pour the apple cider vinegar over the artichokes and then sprinkle the garlic powder over them as well.
Cover the pot and cook at medium heat for about 1 hour or until the leaves pull off the artichoke easily.

Serve with aioli or mayonnaise.
