Home Base Life: An Introduction to Edible Gardening For The Lazy Gardener

Kitchen Herb Garden in A Container

If you've been around here long enough, you'll remember the Edible Garden Project series I used to write. At the end of last season, I decided to end the project on this site and focus in on all things travel. However, I certainly never stopped growing edibles and building upon my gardening skills. As I've mentioned before, while traveling is one of my greatest passions - I'm of the set that prefers to keep a home base to return to after my trips. One of the reasons keeping a home base is important to me, is it allows me to pursue other passions; like edible gardening. If you're following me on Instagram, you'll see me sharing these pursuits with the hashtag #homebaselife.

A couple of months ago I got the opportunity to continue writing about edible gardening and I snapped it up. So for any of you who are interested in reading more about my approach to edible gardening and possibly getting started yourself, you're in luck - I've just published my very first multimedia e-book on The Snippet App!

An Introduction To Edible Gardening For The Lazy Gardener

An Introduction To Edible Gardening For The Lazy Gardener is written for folks who are brand new to the world of edible gardening and are looking for a simple, no-frills approach to growing your own food. Within it you'll find step-by-step how-to videos, inspiring edible plant pictures, and straight-forward advice from me as well as from two awesome edible gardening experts from my neighborhood nursery; Rolf Hokansson and Aimée Damman of Swansons

I specifically want to say a big thank you to Rolf and Aimée - they were both so kind to allow me to record a great seminar they taught at Swansons and to answer additional questions afterwards. Also a big thank you to my talented husband for his filming and recording skills and to my mom for editing help!

If you'd like to purchase the book on the web; you can sign up for a Snippet account and download the book here. If you'd like to read it in mobile form, download the Snippet App here and find the book by searching for the title.

UPDATE: Although my Snippet is supposed to be published today, May 22, 2014 - it does not appear to be in the store. I'll make sure to update this post as soon as it's arrived. My apologies for the links not working quite yet!

And now, for old times sake; a few shots of the current status of my own edible garden.

Note: When I was writing this book and even when I wrote this post, I had no idea that this year would mark the end of four years in our little house with my fabulous three raised beds. Alas, the life of a renter means being okay with being mobile. So we'll be pulling our tomatoes and squash out of our raised beds and replanting them in large containers. A container gardener I shall be once more.
