Scenes from Oregon: The Outback Scenic Byway
When I was planning our drive to Lake Tahoe this year - I did my best to find a route which we hadn't traveled on our first drive down from Seattle two years ago. Little did I know, as I navigated on the Google Map, I was plotting a course down the Oregon Outback Scenic Byway. If you're into the high desert this isolated route will be right up your alley. From the fascinating geological historical sights like Fort Rock to the breathtaking sunsets - it's got plenty to offer.
Two little tips from our drive along the byway;
- Fill up your gas tank when you have the chance. This area is quite isolated and fill up stations are few and far between.
- Give yourself plenty of time to drive the 171 miles - a number of this sights worth seeing are a good distance off the main highway.
