Prompted by a few gentle nudges, I've got a brand new style of travel video to share it with you today. Until about a couple of weeks ago - Zeke and I had never filmed in a city or placed ourselves on camera in a "host" capacity. When I moved to Seattle in 2010, I was absolutely thrilled by the relative abundance of gluten free friendly restaurants. Prior to that, I was living in a little town on the California coast with NO options - in fact, I was frequently told by restaurant staff that I could not be accommodated. So moving to Seattle was like moving to a gluten free friendly wonderland. Three years and a heck of a lot of travelling later, I think Seattle is just starting to catch up with it's biggest rival in terms of gluten free friendliness; Portland, Oregon. More and more restaurants are including information on their regular menus to indicate gluten free items or ones that can be adapted.
Since Seattle has just over 300 people descending upon it this weekend to attend the International Food Bloggers Conference (IFBC) and I'm positive I'm not the only gluten free one in the bunch, I thought I'd share some of the spots I keep returning to for great gluten free eats throughout the city. I've also included a number of links to other resources to query for even more ideas.

Of all the places I’ve lived, I’ve never explored any of them by foot the way I have in my adopted hometown of Seattle, Washington. Perhaps it’s something about the unique personality of the Ballard and Phinney Ridge neighborhoods or perhaps it has more to due with the lack of West-East/East-West public transit. Over the course of a typical weekend, I find myself taking a number of walks to explore the neighborhood along with my husband and our pup.

Since moving away from San Diego in 2005, I'm always struggling to find good Mexican food. When I moved away from California in 2010 - it's become even more of a challenge! Just recently I've been frequenting the small chain of Cactus Restaurants in Seattle. I first visited the original location in Madison Park - such a fun and warm location. It doesn't hurt that you can just walk right outside to the shore of Lake Washington either. Their newest location in South Lake Union is also great and just a short walk from the downtown area.
The Chihuly Garden and Glass Exhibition in Seattle Center is pretty darn spectacular and totally worth a visit - there's even a discount for those of us that live in King County! There's an inside portion that just looks out of this world and an outdoor portion that makes my imagination just run wild. An unexpected portion of the Exhibition is the Theater - don't miss this!

In the course of life in this lovely city, I often end up finding some gluten free eats that go unrecognized on the blog. Mostly for reasons of oversight and simply getting caught up in other parts of life. This often happens when we have visitors in town or with the spots we get take out from on busy weekday evenings. So now it's time to give those spots their due chance in the spotlight, as I've had good gluten free dining experiences with them all.
